Tasmanian Tourism Award for Indigenous Tourism 2008
A permanent exhibition at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Hobart
The exhibition celebrates the rich and unique culture of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, through historic and contemporary cultural practice, and focuses on the unique relationship the Tasmanian Indigenous community has with water.
The design forms a sculptural narrative within the gallery. Stories are explored through a range of senses that interplay with the built fabric, creating a multi-dimensional and “living” experience. A series of display “islands” use lighting and sculptural forms to create the sense of walking through water, and combined with visual projections, audio sound-scapes and interactive media and graphics, creates a contemporary, integrated & immersive experience.
