A permanent sculpture, Googong, Regional NSW
Googong is an ecologically sensitive new township development in regional NSW. Working from concepts by infrastructure development firm AECOM we designed and fabricated a gate-way sculpture for the town. The township of 5,550 planned homes is located near the Googong Dam and foreshores, which form a significant habitat for native flora and fauna.
A metal sculpture representing a museum display case frames the foundations of an old homestead discovered on the site and relocated to its present position. Meadow plantings of native flowers and grasses surround the sculpture. A wedge shaped earth-retaining form constructed of block work weathering steel provides a platform for which to view the homestead foundations.
