Echo Point Lookout, Blue Mountains

The project brings Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owner stories to this important cultural site through a series of Welcome Nodes and embedded ground plane elements; a Map of Country (day time experience) and Star Map (lit night time experience) and a series of kangaroo and emu tracks through the site. These are integrated into the redeveloped lookout at Echo point.

The project was developed for the Blue Mountains City Council with the Blue Mountains Aboriginal Advisory Council. We consulted with the BMACC and Traditional Owners through a series of design workshops to identify story opportunities as a co-design process with the Aboriginal Advisory Council. We assisted the community to conceptualise the story nodes that provide a place for them to tell their story of the three sisters and the Blue Mountains as a live cultural tour experience.

The nodes in the live and static modes increase visitor understanding of this important World Heritage Area and its continuous Indigenous heritage.
