A travelling exhibition at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra

A modular travelling exhibition that brought together the four Kelly Gang armor sets for the first time. The exhibition utilised approximately 300 objects to bring personal stories to life, reflecting the diversity of Irish influence in Australia from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788 to the present day.

Visitors were encouraged to discover and connect with a large amount of content at their own pace through an immersive and engaging environment. The combination of strong graphic identity, interactive media and lighting design successfully formed a dynamic and flexible exhibition space within an open layout. The floor plan was based on the shape of a Celtic processional cross illuminated on the ground plane of the exhibition floor. A central feature of the exhibition was the ‘story circle’ where visitors could pause and sit in interactive sound chairs and select audio media to engage with.
